Listening Therapy

Integrated Listening System (iLs) combines individualized auditory training with visual and balance exercises. We use iLs in conjunction with therapy sessions to simultaneously stimulate the visual, vestibular, and auditory systems. Effects include improved rhythm and timing, improved attention and concentration, and improved self-regulation and achievement of an optimal state of arousal.

Our Approach

playABILITIES offers a range of group therapy programs depending on the time of the year and the needs of the community.

Example programs are:

Creation Station which is designed to help children explore and create masterpieces using their five senses. Targeted skills include flexibility, teamwork, social skills, and appropriate reaction size if our 'creations' don’t go quite as planned.

Movement and Language which is a play-based program that will keep kids engaged while encouraging lots of fine and gross motor skills. We incorporate thematic elements and music therapy to actively engage children with various learning styles. Kids will jump, crash, swing, run, and scooter until their bodies feel “JUST RIGHT!”

Regulation Station which utilizes the Superflex Curriculum and Zones of Regulation to address social and regulation concerns. Primary focus of the group is helping children identify appropriate self-regulation strategies and behavioral skills in a fun and engaging environment.

When working with your child, our therapists primarily use play-based activities to build functional skills, while appealing to your child’s interests. During therapy sessions, we aim to simulate the kinds of situations and experiences that children experience in everyday life. Our therapists use their expertise and creativity to connect with your child, implementing a variety of approaches to find the “just right” therapeutic fit for your child.
